A trip to the Hills

Image
Spent a few hours at Green Valley Strawberries and Nairne. Both coughing well but the sun drew us out for some fresh air First of the season Strawberries available in the Hay Valley and we enjoyed delicious cakes with our customery #coffeeoclock  On to the quaint town of Nairne near Mount Barker for a stroll before returning home via Hahndorf exhausted Definately needed a nap after all that.

Glad to be home

Although I enjoyed the PanPac competition and especially our day on stage I missed out on so many things we planned to do... tagging, singing pokare, Afterglow, dinner on the boat and Big Sing Initially it was the distance between venues and the position of our hotel that stopped me but lack of taxis and the inability to get an Uber with blocked bank accounts and no international phone calls slowed me right down and isolated me. I wished I'd known more about where others were staying and the venues before I booked our hotel. Detours, steep hills and pot holes also took their toll. 12 minute walks took me nearer 30 and 20 minute uphill ones nearer an hour even with my stick. I loved the City Explorer trip and our day trip to Waiheke Island and those two events helped to ease the disappointment. It was a relief to get out of the City for some touring and site-seeing further South (Rotorua and Lake Taupō) and such a joy to meet up with Reuben and Sarah in Cambridge for lunch. No ticke

No time to get to the big sing sadly but made it to the Marina for the midday boat after a quick coffee at 1 Queen Street Spent a lovely day on the Island visiting vineyards, beaches and other delightful places. The 40 minute boat trip was bracing and yet again hop on, hop off proved successful.  The driver recommended a popular Italian restaurant for lunch and we caught the sunset ferry back
