Birthday Blues

Image
My birthday was a pretty crap day. One card and a nice potplant from my Clive, a 1.00am (uk time) call from my bestie Paulette in the UK (and she was very poorly with covid) a quick FB message from my children (no cards) then hubby was out playing bowls all day. Thankfully, a couple of my friends from choir suggested a drink after our evening rehearsal so at least I had some pleasant company. Unfortunately, after not eating for nearly 8 hours, I succumbed to a 'dirty burger' and large glass of red wine. I did share the curly fries though. Oh well (expletives)... tomorrow's another day Got up early and cancelled my planned aqua as it was a beautiful day and thought we might go for coffee/brunch to make up for yesterday. He's off to a ROMEO lunch! (retired old men eating out) Wandering round McLaren Vale on my own and having a gin and cheese platter at a distillery with stunning views. Not really drowning my sorrows and I did manage 2x30 minutes #mydailywalk

Autumn in the Hills

Image
The April weather this year has been changeable. Every time we tried to find great Autumn colours the blue sky would disappear and the clouds rolled in.  Managed a few good shots over 3 different days.... Mount Lofty Botanical Gardens, Stangate House, Hahndorf and Carey Gully Mount Lofty was rather cloudy this year but still beautiful

Fair weather walker

I must admit, I'm a fair weather walker. I hate walking in the rain, am depressed by grey drizzly days and would much rather hibernate when winter comes.   I was sad I gave my 20 year old 'Danimac' jacket to the charity shop years ago and made my lack of suitable winter clothing an excuse to avoid #mydailywalk .  But guess what???!!! Lurking at the back of the cupboard I found a bag, destined for the Op Shop which never made it, containing this jacket. It has a protective hood that zips into the collar, nice warm lining, a couple of deep zipped pockets for necessities, and keeps the worst of the wind and rain away. No more excuses!

Meerkats & monkeys, Boab & Bison, Safaris & Savannah

Had a wonderful day out at the newly updated Monarto Safari Zoo. Our guides and drivers were brilliant and we did the bus loop twice, the second time stopping off at the Outpost to visit wallabies, chimps and meerkats.  Took my customery 150 photos!  The new facilities are brilliant and will be outstanding once they iron out a few minor logistical problems.... early days! The local council need to put in some decent signage as the new entrance has moved 8km and it's easy to overshoot the final turn.

Lazy walking week

After all the exertions of the last couple of weeks, I've been having a change. Instead of long challenging walks I've been concentrating on strengthening exercises and adding to my 'theraband' routine. This will give me something to do when the weather is bad. Its simple space saving equipment, program doesn't take more than 20 minutes and it works all muscle groups. I've graduated from the easier green bands to the slightly stronger ones now. https://greatist.com/fitness/resistance-band-exercises
