Slow going .... and cake

Image
"Accentuate the positive, Eliminate the negative" Having the right mindset really does make a difference when it comes to motivation. I could so easily say despondently .... "I've only lost 100g AGAIN this week or, I'm so disappointed I've plateaued or, I've stuck to the plan but .... (what about that slice of cake and missed breakfast?) or, I lost 4kg in January but only 500g in the whole of February" No! .....  I've had 7 weeks in a row when I've either lost weight or stayed the same.  That's 7 WHOLE WEEKS WITHOUT A GAIN!  Same result, different attitude AND I had a fabulous day out at the Little Uraidla Bakery making delicious cakes.

More water please

I often struggle to get my 2 litres of water down each day but not in this heatwave. I'm having lots of salads, simple meals with vegetables and carefully weighed portions. It seems to be working. Weight loss had slowed a little once I moved from Shakes to transition then 3 meals a day. I was disappointed and feared my old patterns were repeating themselves but no .... its still moving down at more than 100g a week. Fast Start definately gave me the nudge I needed and has got me back on track, much more confident and accurate with my portion sizes. Now that my main stresses are behind me, I'm focussed and hopeful, long may it continue. The extreme heat has meant no #mydailywalks for a while but I plan to get back to them soon. In the meantime, I'm exploring senior chair yoga/pilates in an effort to get moving again.  Day 1 done! It finally looks like the mood has changed on the TWD support Facebook page. Still plenty of annoying basic questions because people are too lazy t

Its a scorcher

A couple of degrees cooler up in the Hills! Pretty tired after the weekend retreat and the temperature is ramping up again. First,  they revised the figures and reduced Thursday and Friday by 3°.... now back to original figures and probably even higher on Thursday and Friday (41+) Clive's car went in for service so we had breakfast a La Crema. Did lots of cooking in the afternoon though to keep the next couple of days free. Made pork and apple meat balls, soy chicken and stirfry, red cabbage and apple slaw, huge tray of roast vegetables and some Greek Chicken and Lemon soup Finished the evening singing with the Adelaide Allsorts and friends at 'learn to sing'. Week 3 and 'off the dots' All I need now is a good night's sleep. At least it's cooled down to about 25°

Murder Mystery at Nunyara

Image
What a fun time we all had at Nunyara over the weekend. A chance for our not to be missed annual retreat with Onkaparinga Harmony. Lots of singing, learning, PVIs, acting and even filming a promotion video. Friday ... singing and a discussion about SAI or BHA with a secret ballot  Saturday ... warmups, more singing, emoting and expression, rhythm and tuning. Group PVIs were less threatening and I loved learning my new cup technique. All these activities interspersed with frequent tasty meals and tea breaks. Saturday Night was a hoot. We all dressed up and assumed characters for a Murder Mystery Evening in 1940s Casablanca. My sides ached with laughing so much. Sunday meant film time, costume changes, interviews and recordings in the grounds. Managed mine on one take thankfully .... it may end up on the cutting room gloom but who knows? Looking forward to seeing the finished promo. I stayed off site but really only missed breakfasts and a couple of camp-fire singing games (which I'd

Going down

Well, it had to happen and I was prepared. After 4 exceptionally good, (for me), weekly losses ... nothing this week - but another 15cm gone overall.  Not worried, as it is absolutely normal to have weeks with no loss or even small gains and I'm finally heading downwards again after nearly 2 years of stalling.... I'm on 3 meals most days now having transitioned from Fast Start Having received the 'all clear, no further treatment required' after my recent cancer diagnosis and surgery I'm on top of the world. That certainly helps put things in perspective so I plan to keep looking for the positives and keep moving forwards, however long it takes.
