Ouch, ouch

Image
Had to happen I suppose, after the highs of Hobart last week, today is not such a good day. Managed to get out for our usual Friday #coffeeoclock but then spent an hour or two flat on my back with a strained muscle (?) and feeling sorry for myself.  I can touch my toes easily but can't straighten up. Eventually levered myself into the car for a short drive to Happy Valley and a gentle walk round the southern loop of the Reservoir to try and loosen up. 5000 steps later I'm feeling much better but glad I had my stick and water bottle with me. 28° and not much shade. Sadly as soon as I sit down again (which is actually pain free)  my back seizes up again and each time I try to get up and move takes a couple of minutes of 'ouch, ouch'

Delights and Disappointments

It's been a week of highs and lows here in Hobart but overall we've had a great time, seen lots of new places, made new friends and did most of what we came here for. The week started badly when we got up just before 4.00am to learn of cancelled and delayed flights. We arrived 14 hours late, just before midnight and therefore couldn't do our trip to MONA (although Clive managed to get there later in the week and also 2 trips to Blundstone Arena for cricket) Hanging Gardens event was OK but freezing cold. Pub sing was low key and short but ConFusion did well. The long uphill walk there and back was punishing. Glad I had a chance to see a bit of the city on the open-top bus. The 24 hour ticket meant Clive got a free ride too the next morning. Enjoyed watching the quartets and our Chorus Corral performance was especially fun and well received. Probably my best memory to hold on to from the whole competition. Sadly missed nearly all the choruses as we had a rehearsal and anothe...

Festivals, friendship and farewells

Another stroll to Salamanca for breakfast then got caught up in the Nepalese Festival in front of Government House.  Bought my customery souvenir earrings at the wharf market then time for lunch with the Allsorts and friends at Saffron

Salamanca and songtime

The Big performance was preceded by a walk round Salamanca and ended with evaluations and a brilliant concert. Meanwhile, Clive enjoyed a trip to MONA and also the cricket at Blundstone Arena

Sightseeing, steps and singing

Managing to achieve all three of these. Started with an open-top bus tour to get our bearings, followed by plenty of walking between venues for the singing competition. After freezing weather and hail it's warming up a bit and staying dry. Big day today as we have our first big event on stage.... the Chorus Corall with The Adelaide Allsorts  Steps reached 320% of my daily average on the first day in Hobart and even sitting around a lot yesterday it was 150%

Exploring Hobart ... day 1 (or is it 2?)

Image
After a good night's sleep we had breakfast on the wharf Clive had a trip to Blundstone Arena to watch the cricket while I did the Open top bus tour of the city and surrounds Time for coffee together then Clive did the bus tour while I walked to the shopping centre. 320% of my daily steps done but still managed a swim and watched the Melbourne Cup on TV. Walked to Hogs Breath for our evening meal then back to watch cricket and an early night "Time for bed" said Zebedee!
