Autumn Leaves





Chose the wrong day for a trip to the Hills. Hahndorf and Stirling grey, cloudy, occasional drizzle and 11° ...   started brightening up when I left.




Had a short walk at Woorabinda but boardwalk is closed for repair 



Our side of the hill, warm sunshine, blue skies and 19°. 21 in the City.

Had to sit in my car at the top of the hill with the sun streaming in the windows to warm up.
At least the fridge is full after a visit to the Fruit Market

Fast Start ... the journey begins

Well, I decided to bite the bullet and try TWD 'Fast Start'. I've been on various meal plans for over 3 years but, after a good initial loss, Covid and life in general got in the way and there's been very little progress since. My reasons for trying this? 1. I need a fresh start and new focus  2. I have upcoming surgery and need recovery time (my husband can't cook) so want to simplify things  3 As a 'Group Expert' I'd like to be better informed PREPARATION DAY and DAY ONE ... discovering the pitfalls Set up was fun. Firstly, I managed to start immediately instead of just previewing, so my first day became week 2! Next I found I'd set level 2 (much as I'd like extra milk for coffee, I certainly don't need three shakes) Then I got an email asking for my weight and picture... really? Coffee update

Units v calories

TWD is based on food units and discourages calorie counting for good reason..... Not all calories are equal. TWD has a large amount of food in bulk but much of it contains water and is therefore lower in calories.  Choosing just any low calorie food may mean missing out on essential nutrients and food groups (not all carbs are bad).   I've eaten a well balanced diet for over 20 years, the last 4 on TWB and this has helped lower my cholesterol, BP and HbA1c so it appears that TWD only differs in the quantity of food I'm eating. I'm still in the obese range with at least another 15kgs to lose but age, stress, medication and inactivity make this really difficult at times. Even level one appears too much for me at the moment. A few years ago I tried Light n Easy for a few months. I lost a couple of kilos in the early weeks but finished heavier than I started.
