Public Holiday following the Queen's funeral


Spent today's public holiday in McLaren Vale and the coast. Enjoyed a coffee, cake and Ginny Pig G&T (Pink berry gin for and a spiced Fig one for me)

 

Then a short beach walk at Moana. Lots of sea grass and big waves at high water but warm and no sea breezes  




Finally another short walk at South Port Noarlunga  and a sit in the sunshine watching the surfers and boarders

Fast Start ... the journey begins

Well, I decided to bite the bullet and try TWD 'Fast Start'. I've been on various meal plans for over 3 years but, after a good initial loss, Covid and life in general got in the way and there's been very little progress since. My reasons for trying this? 1. I need a fresh start and new focus  2. I have upcoming surgery and need recovery time (my husband can't cook) so want to simplify things  3 As a 'Group Expert' I'd like to be better informed PREPARATION DAY and DAY ONE ... discovering the pitfalls Set up was fun. Firstly, I managed to start immediately instead of just previewing, so my first day became week 2! Next I found I'd set level 2 (much as I'd like extra milk for coffee, I certainly don't need three shakes) Then I got an email asking for my weight and picture... really? Got there in the end though Now for the shakes themselves. I've never tried replacement meals so was not sure what to expect. For breakfast I chose strawberry

Glutton for punishment

Well, the sun finally put in an appearance so we made an early start and headed down the Fleurieu Peninsula to Goolwa for siteseeing, walks and coffee. 4 different walks and 250% of my recently increased daily steps. (Perhaps not what the doctor ordered after my heavy session in the gym yesterday..... my poor knees and quads!) First stop was the Nangawooka Flora Reserve just outside Victor Harbor. Lots of well labelled native shrubs, winding walkways and birds. Next, on to Bombora on the River for #coffeeoclock and brunch before popping down to the barrage. The gates are open and water levels rising fast. Still plenty of seals and pelicans providing the entertainment Then drove across the bridge to Hindmarsh Island and off to the viewpoint for the Murray Mouth. No dredgers needed at the moment and the Coorong in full flow. Finally, a trip to Port Elliott, Horseshoe Bay,  Freeman's Knob and the Frenchman's rocks coastal path. Those steps at the end were punishing!
